I cannot add new maps into Multiplans (the web gateway does not work).
To import your map, did you follow the steps described at page More info on how to import maps in Multiplans?
The communication between the computer and Multiplans on iPhone is a wifi connexion. This connexion can be made only if the computer and the iPhone both belong to the same local network.
Note that the web gateway (created at an address such as 192.168.1.3:8080) remains active only as long as that address is indicated on the "Import a map" screen on the iPhone.
I prepared a map, but I get error "impossible to add map" when trying to import it into Multiplans.
Check the following points:
Multiplans can't acquire the GPS signal, though I'm in a place where it should work.
Check that the iPhone is not in airplane mode. This mode disables not only the cellular network, but also the GPS chip!
Multiplans is not able to determine my location, contrary to other GPS apps on my iPhone!
Check in the Settings app that Multiplans can access the location services. For that, open application "Settings" --> General --> Location services, and check the status of Multiplans.
Multiplans quits without warning.
It can happen that iOS "kills" Multiplans if the available memory shrinks too much. If you encounter this problem, free memory before opening Multiplans. To do that:
Method (a): Restart the iPhone. (This method frees the maximum possible amount of memory).
Method (b) Use a specialized app from the app store to free memory.
Method (c) Click twice quickly on the Home button of the iPhone. This opens the list of recently used apps (many of them are still lying in memory). Touch one app in this list until the icons "shake", and then remove successively the apps from the list using button "-".
How can I move a point of interest?
Select the point of interest by touching its name (rather than the cross) for about a second, and then move your finger across the screen. The point of interest will follow the finger as soon as the displacement exceeds about 1.5 cm on the screen. Alternatively, you can move a point of interest by changing its geographical coordinates in the information screen on the point of interest.
How to view my GPS track on top of satellite pictures or google maps?
Export your track in Multiplans and download the generated file entitled track.gpx to your computer. That file can be opened by many GPS programs. In particular:
visuGPX can display the track on top of google maps/satellite pictures.
scrutGPX can display the track on top of French IGN maps. These web sites do also show plots of speed and altitude along the route.
How to save battery life?
Recording a GPS track consumes much energy. To save battery life, disable Wi-Fi and 3G networks. Do not put the iPhone in airplane mode, as this mode disables also the GPS chip!
How to find my current GPS coordinates?
Tap the localization button to center the map on your current position. Create a new point of interest (flag button) and tap on the name of the latter (that is on the words "position at hours: minutes") to open the Information screen on the point of interest. This screen shows the geographical coordinates of the point: longitude and latitude and well as X, Y coordinates in the projection system of the map.
How to convert between GPS coordinates (WGS84) and projected coordinates?
Create a point of interest on the map and tap on its name to open the information screen on that POI. When you change a geographic coordinate in a field (longitude, latitude, or projected coordinates X, Y), the other values are immediately recalculated.
